Hockey

The hockey section runs from the first Sunday in September to the last Sunday in April. Training resumes on Sunday 7th September 2008.

Training and matches take place on the artificial hockey pitches at Cranleigh School, with training running every week from 10am - 12noon and matches taking place throughout the day for children from 6 to 16 years old.

We feel it is very important to work on the basic skills of hockey, enabling individuals to improve their own personal skills and help them to become the complete hockey player. Throughout the season players will work on a variety of skills, from running with the ball to pushing, hitting, passing, defending and attacking as well as team play and tactics.

As well as coaching, SJB Academy believe that everybody should have the chance to compete in matches and strive to provide match opportunities against other clubs throughout the season.

SJB Academy run teams in both the Mercian Home Counties Colts League for boys and the Home Counties Girls League. Teams compete in the Under 14 and Under 16 leagues, with a second team being run at Under 14 Boys' to make sure all players get the opportunity to play matches.

The club also run sides at Under 9's and Under 11's that compete in friendly matches, tournaments and festivals and teams are also entered into various tournaments at Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 and Under 13 categories.
